Guide for UK sellers

Where to sell trainers in the UK

StockX, GOAT, eBay, Vinted and Depop all sell trainers, but they take different cuts and suit different pairs. Here's what you keep on each, and where to list what you've got.

The short answer

  • New, sought-after pairs: StockX or GOAT. The most sneaker buyers, the highest fees.
  • Worn pairs and general releases: Vinted or eBay. No selling fee for private sellers, and buyers who aren't only looking for hype.
  • Vintage, retro and streetwear-styled pairs: Depop, where buyers shop by look.
  • Need cash today: a local sneaker shop or consignment store. Fast, but well under resale value.

What you keep on each platform

Your payout after each platform's fees, before what you paid for the pair and any postage you cover. These use the same fees as our calculators, checked September 2026. Click a platform to put in your own numbers.

StockX's selling fee falls as your seller level rises, and GOAT's seller fee depends on where you ship from. eBay business sellers' fees vary by category.

StockX

One of the biggest sneaker marketplaces in the UK and Europe. You sell to StockX's buyers at a price set by bids and asks, ship the pair to StockX to be checked, and get paid once it passes. It's the easiest way to sell a new, in-demand pair without haggling, but you need it unworn with the original box, and the fees are among the highest. StockX fee calculator.

GOAT

Similar to StockX, with authentication, but GOAT also takes used pairs. Its fixed seller fee makes it expensive on cheaper trainers and better value the pricier the pair. You also pay a fee to cash your balance out to your bank. GOAT fee calculator.

eBay

The widest reach of any platform, and private sellers in the UK don't pay a final value fee on trainers. That makes it one of the cheapest places to sell anything from beaters to grails. Many higher-priced trainers go through eBay's authentication before reaching the buyer, which helps sell expensive pairs. Business sellers pay a fee per sale. eBay fee calculator.

Vinted

Sellers pay nothing: the buyer covers postage and Vinted's Buyer Protection fee. Huge numbers of UK buyers browse it for everyday trainers, worn pairs and kids' sizes. Expect offers, and price with a little room to haggle. Vinted profit calculator.

Depop

A younger audience shopping by style. Retro runners, skate shoes and pairs that fit a look do well, and good photos matter more than anywhere else. No selling fee for UK sellers, but every sale carries a payment processing fee. Depop fee calculator.

Selling on more than one

Plenty of resellers list the same pair in several places and take it down everywhere else as soon as it sells. It sells faster, but it's easy to lose track of which pair went where, what you paid and what you actually made after each platform's cut.

SoleInventory logs every pair, records each sale with its platform fees and postage, and shows your profit by platform, so you can see where your pairs actually make money.

Common questions

What is the best website to sell trainers in the UK?

It depends on the pair. For new, in-demand releases, StockX and GOAT reach the most sneaker buyers. For worn pairs and general-release trainers, Vinted and eBay usually sell faster and take less in fees. Depop suits vintage and streetwear-styled pairs.

Which platform takes the least in fees?

Vinted and eBay for private sellers don't take a selling fee, so you keep the full price. Depop takes about 3.3% plus 45p for payment processing. StockX and GOAT take the most: about 12% on StockX, and 14% to 17% on GOAT for a £100 to £250 pair once its fixed seller fee and cash-out fee are included.

Can I sell used trainers on StockX?

StockX is built for new, unworn pairs, and that's where its buyers are. For worn pairs, GOAT, eBay and Vinted are better places to list.

Is StockX or GOAT better for UK sellers?

StockX has the bigger UK and European audience, and its fee falls as your seller level rises. GOAT adds a fixed seller fee and a cash-out fee, which hurt most on cheaper pairs. Put the same price into both calculators to compare what you'd keep.

How can I sell shoes for cash quickly?

Price slightly under recent sold prices on Vinted or eBay, where buyers check out instantly. Local sneaker shops and consignment stores will buy outright for cash, but expect well under resale value in return for the speed.
